Obligatory Greeting

When did saying the time of the day become an appropirate greeting? i understand that the time of the day was at one time, and many times still is, followed the adjective "Good." But if you just say the greeting out to yourself, basically you are just passing by the other person telling them what time of the day it is:

Morning!
Afternoon!
Evening!

Just telling the other person something they probably already know unless they are not wearing a watch and have not been outside. How is that a freindly greeting?

Quotes from the BBC

Posting on this site has fallen to the wayside. But these two quotes from a trailer of season 11 of the greatest show to ever be shown was too great not to share with someone. And by someone i mean the zero folks who still read this.

"What we need is an exploding bus, jumping over other buses.... which are also on fire"

"How about two ferarris power sliding around bently, which is also power sliding"

"Ive got it! Tigers racing badgers!"

Truth from a Honda

A recent statement on a random car review article got me thinking. The context was the Honda CRV. This car isn’t the most exciting car to be released this year, nor the fastest, nor the best looking, nor most fuel efficient, nor the most anything, but “If you are going to be truly honest with yourself, it’s the best car for you. And that’s the problem with honesty, it just isn’t very exciting.”

And that’s true, being honest never seems as dramatic or fantastic as you think it should be. It always seems like a compromise from the things that you want and the things that you need.

Now there is a difference with being excited by the revelation of the truth and being honest with yourself. The main difference I see is: one is a surprise and you had no idea of, and the other you always knew, but chose not to acknowledge. And when you come to the point where you do have to make that decision to acknowledge that which you know in your mind (or heart as some may say) it is never the dramatic reveal you thought it might be. Its just a slow warm feeling that builds until you feel the same way you always have.
